Fmla Tracking Spreadsheet – The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requires employers to track employees who take leave and to estimate their return date. If you are a human resources manager or administrative assistant who has been responsible for this task, you can establish a program in Excel to track the date of the license of each employee, expected return date and the current situation. 1 Collect all the paper documentation you need to transfer data to Microsoft Excel.

2 Open Excel and create 11 columns in a new spreadsheet, including name, unique identifier field (employee number), address, city, state, zip code, phone1, phone2, date, return date and status leave. Leave the date and date of return must be date fields.

3 Enter all the data of the records written in the Excel spreadsheet. The status is recorded as if an employee is on the way back to work. Place an “unknown” status for employees who are either seriously ill or who have open circumstances surrounding their license. Employees in this latter category may include someone caring for a child or spouse with cancer, for example.

4 Sort the data in “condition”. Now it has a monitoring system for employees who use FMLA.
